JOHN SKELTON'S LEGACY EXHIBITION

The 8th of July 2023 would have been John Skelton‘s hundredth birthday.

This exhibition demonstrates the artistic influence he has had on his apprentices, followers and occasional students and now on those who are students at Skelton Workshops here at Artelium.

Stone was John’s first love, but wood, metal and modern materials such as perspex and fibreglass also fascinated him.

John was known for his innovative approach to letter forms, and for his skills in watercolour painting. He was continuously exploring the world with his pencil and was prolific in architectural, nature and life drawing.

This exhibition allows those inspired by him to show their work and demonstrates his legacy both now and in the future.
